That's right, my new daily comic that I was speaking of with almost-to-no detail about in my previous blog posts, is officially a go! Now, I just want to say a few things about it. As I mentioned in one of my posts, I had a previous draft of Roomies that I trashed. For this, I more or less came back to it, but I completely replaced one of the characters. Which one, you ask? Well, maybe if one day I release a year or two's worth of Roomies strips in the form of a book, and title it something like "The Essential Roomies", I'll put some commentary and explain in detail what exactly I changed. Until then, because I literally JUST started it, I don't want to confuse anyone by over-explaining it. I will at-least say that one of the biggest problems I had was that I was previously limiting myself to a three-panel format. For what I'm trying to do, that's just simply not enough. It was immediately liberating to jump to four panels.
So yeah, as explained on the page itself, I will be releasing a new strip every weekday, no questions asked. At the moment, that just fits my schedule. As a result, some strips might be underwhelming. I will try my hardest to keep them consistent in quality, but that's a damn hard thing to do. I'm no Schulz. I'm doing it without a budget, as well. I'm not making a single penny off of this. I'm doing it simply because I'm passionate about it. I love comics, and I genuinely want to try my hand at making my own.
The premise, as you may have gathered, is that these two nobodies are living in an apartment together. Sounds pretty familiar, right? Admittedly, I noticed its fundamental similarities to Bill and Bob while I was drafting it. But they are going to be two completely different comics, and soon you'll see why. I think it's going to be a lot of fun, either way. I really hope you enjoy it, and stay tuned!
